You’ve discovered you’re pregnant and are already thinking about when to start putting together your baby’s layette? Don’t worry, let’s go step by step! Today, I’ll guide you through a practical schedule to help you know the right time to start each stage of the layette, without rushing or overdoing it.

First Trimester: Focus on You

At the beginning of your pregnancy, the focus is on taking care of yourself! Between doctor’s appointments and exams, it’s common to feel tired, sleepy, and nauseous. Use this time to rest, and when you reach 14-15 weeks, you can start thinking about furniture and organizing the baby’s room. Planning is Everything! The first step is deciding where the baby will sleep. Will it be a co-sleeper attached to your bed or a traditional crib? Does the room need air conditioning? Are the outlets well located for installing the baby monitor? Don’t forget to check if any work, like painting or electrical installation, will be necessary.

Week 20: Time to Think About Clothes

When you reach the 20th week, it’s the ideal time to start preparing the clothing list. But be careful: don’t start buying without planning! Create your list calmly, counting how many bodysuits, onesies, and other items you’ll need. A tip: think about two to three outfit changes a day, considering your laundry routine.

Week 30: Everything in Order

By the 30th week, your furniture should have been delivered and assembled. Leave everything open so the MDF smell can dissipate, and take this time to start washing the clothes. And remember: wash everything, from clothes to towels and sheets, to make sure everything is ready when the baby arrives.

Week 35: Layette Ready!

The goal is to be fully organized by week 35 with the hospital bag packed. This will give you peace of mind to rest and prepare for labor, without last-minute worries.
